Hurricane Sandy Relief

Today in class we discussed hurricanes, as a way to bring our own experiences into our study of weather. Of course, many students wanted to know why we were off of school for, what seemed to them, to be just a rain storm. We talked about the unpredictable nature of hurricanes and the damage caused in New Jersey and New York and many coastal communities.

Our wonderful students immediately wanted to know how they could help the people who lost their homes, businesses, belongings, and loved ones. I promised that I would find out how they could help, so here is the result of that research. I hope that if you and your family are able, you will take the chance to teach our kids about the goodness of giving to those in need, especially at a time when it so easily could have been our community.
